Mary Sue Woods had a surprise visit from a dear friend who lives in Grand Rapids, Mich. She was also presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Ann Gillette was also in the area to attend a graduation in Mount Pleasant.
Isy Flander enjoyed the company of her daughter, Melinda, and granddaughter Brianna Holden from Manley. They spent the night and discussed the excitement of the Florida-bound trip and Brianna beginning her internship at Disney World. The mother and daughter duo were traveling by car to Florida and Melinda will fly back.
Gladys Ferguson attended the recent gathering at Lebowski?s in memory of her late son, Steve. Lots of friends and numerous bands had a story to share about the talented musician and what Steve had contributed to their lives and the music industry.
Wednesday afternoon visitors of Martha Chabal were brother-in-law, Bob and Doris Chabal of Grundy Center. They also visited their sister-in-law, Dorothy Chabal, while in Washington.
The ladies from the Marion Avenue Baptist Church were Wednesday-afternoon callers in the Avalon House. They enjoyed visiting and spreading the joy with many residents.
The ?Sound of Washington? is a musical group that performed in the Timmins Dining Room on Tuesday evening. They are touring the community and all were wearing their T-shirts listing upcoming musical events. They sang many selections, including ?Take Me Out to the Ball Game? with the finale of ?Happy Trails.? The group of 30 entertained to a packed house.
The unseasonably cool weather has put the kibosh on outdoor activities and residents look forward to sunshine and fresh-grown vegetables from the Farmers Market.
Haven Mennonite Church and speaker, Titus Swartzendruber, recently led the congregation with the sermon ?Remember Our Destiny? with the Scripture from Romans 5. Pastor Kelly Allard from the Bethel Presbyterian Church provided church services in the Epworth Chapel. The sermon title was ?To See Clearly? and Mark 8: 22-26 was the Bible Scripture.
