Avalon House residents have spent this week welcoming and getting to know our new Lifestyles Director, Carole Martins. At Movers and Thinkers we shared trivia on ?Pearl Harbor.? Residents shared stories of remembering where they were on Dec. 7, 1941, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. Hailie Halverson brought over the high school sophomore writing class to work with the residents on writing their biography. They have been visiting with the residents for several weeks and will compile the information they gather into a biography for each resident participating.
Halcyon House residents had a chance to show off their talents the past month. Select residents were chosen to have their art sent to Johnston to the home office for WesleyLife. The art was on display for a month and this week the residents were treated to a reception in Johnston. They enjoyed snacks and each one shared a bit about themselves and their art. The following residents were involved in the art show: Connie Sorrell, Darlene Flynn, Lois Greiner, Bess Edwards, Donna Guy, Mona Paul, Francis Moore, Dean Slater, Ione Burham, Virginia Tschantz, and Isy Flander.
Karen McCreedy and Bruce and Sonja Campbell hosted some friends on Sunday evening for a soup supper in the game room. Guest included: Allen and Beverly Griggs, Fred and Nancy Stark, Ira and Sharon Wagner, Pete and Carol Bell, Stan and Connie Bauer, Jim and Jan Stiles, David and Karen Norman. They are all long-time friends from the United Methodist Church.
Virginia Tschantz left for Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Nov. 23, with son, Mike and his wife, Jan Tschantz. They had Thanksgiving dinner with their daughter, Molly and Brad Meier and the rest of Jan?s family, the Rosholts. Then on Friday morning nine of them flew out of Minneapolis for Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Virginia?s grandson, Luke was married to Crystle James that weekend. Virginia stayed with her sister, Barbara, in Santa Rosa Beach. They had a wonderful visit and enjoyed the beautiful wedding!
Happy birthday wishes go out to Carla Lumberg and Jean Marshall.
