Halcyon residents, team members, and community members love learning line dances taught by Wellness Coordinator Mercy Brinning. They have been ?shaking it? to Uptown Funk, CC Shuffle, Good Times and the Cowboy Boogie, just to name a few! Halcyon residents, team members, and community members love learning line dances taught by Wellness Coordinator Mercy Brinning. They have been ?shaking it? to Uptown Funk, CC Shuffle, Good Times and the Cowboy Boogie, just to name a few! Every Tuesday and Thursday the dancers meet in the Day Lounge from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to learn a new line dance. This week guest instructors Vanessa Moeller and Sadie Carter taught the class the Wobble! There is always a huge crowd watching in awe!
The Washington Community Middle School performed Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the Timmin?s Dining Room at Halcyon House. The Middle School choir performed a melody by Andy Beck, ?Clever Chameleon? and ?Choral Highlights? from ?Annie? by Roger Emerson. Johnathon Runass led the choir while Margaret Runass accompanied them by playing the piano. The residents enjoyed the students? performance.
Pat Sieren, Izzy Flanders, Barb Steele and many others enjoyed some pampering by Angie Eichelberger and Jackie Knupp from Serenity Spa. Jackie and Angie take time out of their busy schedules to do manicures and pedicures for the residents at Halcyon House on a monthly basis.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, 16 residents of Avalon House health center joined together for a celebration. They ordered lunch from the Applewood Bistro and enjoyed fellowship in the Marshall game room.
On Friday, Jan. 29, 11 Arbor House residents and several team members took a trip to McDonald?s for ice cream sundaes. It was one of the warmer days of January, so they decided to get out and about. They were excited for a January outing, so much more pleasant than being snowed in. Upon return, the ladies received manicures and the gentlemen played board games.
Carolyn Levy enjoyed a recent visit from her daughter, Jennifer. Jennifer was visiting from San Francisco. She and Carolyn spent quality mother/daughter time catching up and relaxing with each other.
Phyllis Lyle has enjoyed the company and assistance of her daughter, Nancy, for the past two weeks. Phyllis has been recovering from a recent foot surgery and is doing great! Phyllis was joined this week by the Miller cousins in the Applewood Bistro for lunch. In attendance were: Dorothy Miller, Ruth Miller, Alberta Miller, Mary Lou Miller, Dwayne Miller, Glenda Hammen, and Betty Stoutner.
Pastor Rick Zickefoose, Brighton United Church, was with us on Sunday, Jan. 31. His sermon was titled, Jesus is a Healing Servant. The sermon was based on Matthew 11:28: ?Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.?
Pastor Bob Wollenberg, United Presbyterian Church, and Pastor Herb Yoder gave communion and shared music with residents from Independent Living and the Health Center this week.
Halcyon House was well represented at the recent Iowa caucuses. Approximately 20 residents and several team members attended both the Democratic and Republican caucuses. It appeared we were pretty evenly split along party lines. Some came back happy and others returned saying, ?We?ll get them in New Hampshire.?
Halcyon House residents suffered much loss recently. Sympathy was extended to: Dean Slater after the loss of his wife, Ruth Slater; the family of Dorothy Helscher; the family of Dale Smith; the family of Martha Witthoft; the family of Larry Shalla; and the family of Marie Widmer.
