Letha Statler recently shared her love story. Her late husband, Cloyce, was a farmer and worked for the county. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to his passing in 2002. They met because her older sister was dating his cousin. Cloyce was from West Chester and Letha from Washington. They married secretly in 1940 and traveled to Jefferson City, Missouri, for the marriage ceremony and honeymoon. Letha shared that in those days if a woman married, she would lose her job. Letha was working as a switchboard operator at the time and didn?t want to lose her job. She goes on to say it was no fun to keep the marriage a secret and she eventually made the announcement. She worked on the farm with Cloyce and they have two daughters. Letha mentioned during the story that Cloyce never forgot Valentine?s Day, a birthday, or any holiday. Someone listening to her story picked up on this fact and decided Letha should receive flowers for Valentine?s Day this year. Letha was very surprised when a floral arrangement was delivered to her door!
Birthday?s were celebrated by Bob Friese, Eva Gallagher, and Gerald Schimmelpfennig.

The roof is going on the south building and residents love watching the trusses being hosted in the air.
