Ben Blanchard, representing the United Methodist Church, led the weekly service with Halcyon House residents. The sermon was titled ?New Me.? The service included Scripture from Romans 6:1-11. Special musical selections for the service were provided by Virginia Tschantz on the piano.
Over 50 residents and community members gathered to be honored at a volunteer appreciation breakfast. Those in attendance enjoyed a wonderful breakfast prepared by the Applewood Bistro. The menu included: quiche, Monte Cristo sliders, candied bacon, French toast, cherry coffee cake, lemon drop muffins, iced coffee and mimosas. The volunteers enjoyed live entertainment by Mike Jewell.
Zion Christian singing group shared their musical talents with Halcyon House residents on Wednesday evening in the Timmins Dining Room. Everyone enjoys the diverse age range of this group from the infants who come along and bring smiles to our faces to those from youth to adult, who share their vocal talents.
Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed Virginia Tschantz on the piano in Sitler Lounge. Each Saturday afternoon Virginia, Audrey Stark and Beth Janecek take turns on the piano. Until recently Eva Gallagher, also, treated everyone to her wonderful piano playing. Saturday evening, several residents throughly enjoyed the movie ?The Hollers,? ? a warmhearted movie about a frustrated cartoonist (John Krasinski) awaiting the birth of his first child, who is forced to reconnect with his dysfunctional family when his mother (Margo Martindale) is diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Joan Williamson and Alta Maxted.
