Minister Rick Zickefoose, representing the Brighton Community Church, provided the weekly chapel service to Halcyon House residents on Sunday, May 26, 2019. The sermon title was 'Pay Forgiveness Forward.” Scripture from Matthew 6: 12-15, was shared with those in attendance. Beth Janecek shared her musical talents on the piano.
Halcyon House would like to thank the American Legion and F-Troop for the wonderful Memorial Day program they hosted for the Halcyon House residents, Friday, May 24. Representative members from the American Legion and F-Troop member Dave Stoufer came to Halcyon to honor the Halcyon House members past and present for their service to this great country. The Memorial Day ceremonial program started with singing 'Our Country ‘Tis of thee” accompanied by Rachael Nichola on the piano and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dave Stoufer was the master of ceremonies with stories of courage and sacrifice from those who have served our country so gallantly. Taps was played by American Legion member Mike Orris. Ethel Sieren, lifestyle activity assistant, ended the program with a poem titled 'What Heroes Gave.” A reception was held after the Memorial Day program with the tables decorated with red, white, and blue table covers and Memorial Day centerpieces with flags and red, white, and blue flowers to finish off this program honoring our vets.
Halcyon House residents and Lending Hands participants enjoyed a picnic lunch and outing to Lake Darling State Park in honor of National Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 29. Fran Victor and Clyde Pearce, Maxine Pieffer, Stan and Connie Bauer and many others enjoyed a sack lunch provided by the Applewood Bistro. Following the lunch, the group drove through the park, checking out the beautiful scenery and overflowing lake!
