Virginia Tschantz attended the wedding of her granddaughter Molly Tschantz in Iowa City on Friday evening. Molly and Brad Meier wrote their own vows, which was heartfelt by all the guests. Virginia?s sister, Barbara was here from Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., as well as Brother Phil and Lois Myers from Golden, Colo., to enjoy the festivities. Virginia Tschantz attended the wedding of her granddaughter Molly Tschantz in Iowa City on Friday evening. Molly and Brad Meier wrote their own vows, which was heartfelt by all the guests. Virginia?s sister, Barbara was here from Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., as well as Brother Phil and Lois Myers from Golden, Colo., to enjoy the festivities. The guests enjoyed the convenience of the shuttle to and from the reception at Brown Deer Golf Course. The excitement continued the next day as they attended the Jazz Festival and the fireworks.
We recently welcomed Bea Johnson to Halcyon House. She was married 56 ½ years to her late husband, Dwaine Johnson, and has been a Washingtonian all of her life. Her children are Chester from Washington, David in Southern Illinois, Ben in MountUnion and Cynthia Hanshaw from Brighton. Bea worked at Advance Ross and is a retired reflexologist that she enjoyed for 35 years. She is grandmother to six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Bea so enjoyed her flowers and was happy to see the many varieties of flowers blooming at Halcyon.
Margret Steinbeck felt so blessed this week to have her granddaughter, Allison Hess in the area. She and her faithful four-legged companion made the trip from Bloomington, Ind. They visited, played cards and had the best time.
Rosie Stelton is excited that her niece has made the move from Denver, Colo., to Washington. Coleen and Rosie plan to have lots of good times together coming down the pike. Cletus and Audrey Reed, along with their daughter Jacque Reed and son Jesse from New York joined Rosie, Coleen and Marcella Reed in the Timmins Dining Room for lunch on Monday.
Betty Osincup has had an especially busy and fun-filled two weeks with family and friends. Daughter, Nancy Roselund and ?granddog? Ginger drove to Iowa from California. Nancy, daughter Regina from Riverside, and Betty?s two Iowa daughters, Donna Schultz and Elyse Chapman and son, Ben attended the Shiloh School of Prophets summer camp from June 27 July 5. On July 3, they met with other family Iowans where they all enjoyed the 26th Shiloh Amphitheater ?American Celebration Fireworks Show.? There were over 1,100 cars with an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 spectators that enjoyed a spectacular sky show. Betty, Nancy, Regina and the granddog were at Halcyon on Monday where they (minus the dog) enjoyed lunch at the Applewood Bistro. It was a blessed and fun packed two weeks with wonderful weather.
Walter Pacha had a nice visit with his brother Don and Geraldine Pacha from Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon.
Letha Statler and Dorothy Helscher have been enjoying her granddaughters and their families who are also visiting their parents, Bob and Peg Helscher. Sarai (Mark) Logue, Maya and Andrew from Boston, Mass., Kristen (Jason) Charley and James of Long Grove and Mary and George Reihner of Columbia, S.C. also helped their dad, Bob celebrate his birthday. Sarai and Kristen hosed a TWIN baby shower for their sister, Mary in the Halcyon game room with family and friends enjoying the afternoon.
Halcyon House residents spent a delightful evening on the Applewood Bistro Patio decorated and ready to celebrate the Fourth of July. They enjoyed chicken kabobs, hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade salads, baked beans, deviled eggs, fresh fruit and a variety of beverages. Denny Marshall and John Marshall were in charge of the grilling with Marjy Martin, Chris Marshall and Mercy Brinning serving the meal
The opening celebration of ?Wesley Life Week? kickoff began Monday with a gathering on the front drive where 100 red, white and blue balloons were released to the sky and a campus wide walk was held. There were 8 very talented young ladies from Studio E under the direction of Erin Wade that performed a high energy baton routine to patriotic music. The red, white and blue sequined outfits had the crowd mesmerized with their bling and baton twirling. Madison Nielsen tapped her way into everyone?s heart with a solo tap routine to the song ?My Heart Goes Boom.? Kaylee Horak, daughter of team member, Sherri Horak concluded the program with her angelic voice. Team members and residents are also holding a food drive for Hacap. A campus wide scavenger hunt was held along with a friendly game of WesleyLife trivia. A ?Green Screen Photo Day? was held on Wednesday afternoon where Chris Marshall snapped photos where they could be serious or as silly as they wanted.
Steve Morris sang and played the drums to some ?Oldie by Goodie? songs on Monday afternoon.
