Fifty Halcyon House residents and Lending Hands clients along with team members celebrated National Senior Health and Fitness Day at Lake Darling State Park, Wednesday, May 31. Izzy Flanders, Erma Ropp, Allan and Margaret Utech, Betty Osincup, Carole Rees, and 45 others enjoyed a delicious picnic lunch of deli sandwiches, fresh fruit, chips and cookies with a beverage prepared by the Applewood Bistro. Halcyon House residents and Lending Hands participants also enjoyed the walking trail around the lake and outdoor games. Following lunch, residents enjoyed a drive through Lake Darling to check out the newest cabins and other amenities that Lake Darling has to offer.
Halcyon House along with the American Legion and F-Troop hosted a Memorial Day Program, Friday, May 26, in the Timmins Dining Room. Residents sang ?America the Beautiful? and ?My Country ?Tis of Thee? as Rachel Nicola accompanied them on piano. Dave Stoufer gave a speech giving gratitude to our veteran?s and Lonny Milligan honored our Halcyon House residents that have passed away since the spring of 2016. Residents also enjoyed delicious cinnamon rolls prepared fresh by Mary Ann Greiner. The program concluded with Mike Orris playing taps. Later in the day, a memorial tree was planted at Halcyon House in honor of our loved ones that have passed. Halcyon House would like to give a huge thank-you to F-Troop and American Legion Members, Allen Fuhr, Mike Orris, Wayne Kaufman, Michael York, Lonny Milligan, Dave Wallerich, Dale Torpey, Dave Stoufer and Rachel Nicola for the wonderful Memorial Service at Halcyon House.
On Friday, May 26, Kate Kiesey and Donna Weseman from Marion, Kathy Schafer from Keosaqua, and Gladys Ferguson enjoyed lunch in the Applewood Bistro together. The group then visited with Carol Gingerich in the afternoon.
Marilyn Davis welcomed son Jeff for the weekend. He was in town to attend the graduation of Marilyn?s grandson, Drake Brezina.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Beth Janecek.
