Pastor Rick Zickefoose, of the Brighton Community Church, provided the weekly church service on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020. The sermon was titled 'Serving My Neighbor As Myself.” Scripture was from Philippians 2:9-11:21. Beth Janecek shared her talents on the piano. Special guests were Anne Zickefoose and John and Linda Nelson.
On Wednesday, Cowboy Joe entertained everyone with his guitar-picking, boot-stomping, yee-hawing country music singing in the Timmins All-Purpose Room at Halcyon House. Lots of hand-clapping and toe-tapping went on for this high-energy program.
The trivia program was titled 'It's a Snack Day Monday.” Everyone started out with a snack word search, and the snack 'Poppables” was shared for this snack program. Everyone stated what their favorite snack was. It looked as though most had a sweet tooth when it came to their preference for a snack. As for the trivia part of the snack program, Doritos were invented in Disney Land, at a restaurant owned by Frito-Lay called 'Casa de Fritos.” They were released nationally in 1966 as the very first commercial tortilla chip to hit the American market. Fritos were invented in 1932, by 29-year-old Charles Elmer Doolin, who went on to invent Cheetos 16 years later.
Happy Birthday wishes this week go out to Pauline Murphy and John Thorne.
