The Baughmans of rural Keota have recently made Halcyon House their new home. Daryl and Irene had lived in the same place for the past 56 years. Daryl served in the Army Infantry stationed in Germany combat from 1944-1946. Irene came from Chariton, where she owned a grocery store and filling station that serviced the trucks of a grocery line that has now become Hy-Vee. They both have been known to try their luck at the casino, enjoy the game of Bingo and playing cards.
Rosie Stelton enjoyed the company of her great niece, Meghan Hamilton and five-week-old daughter Brynn, making Rosie a great-great-aunt. Coleen Alonzi also joined them for lunch in the Timmins Dining Room.
Mary Ellen Wright has been enjoying the company of sons, David of Colorado and Craig of Brighton this past week.

The Fairfield High School Music students utilized Halcyon House for their home away from home on Saturday, Oct. 24, as they practiced and waited for their competition times at the Washington High School. The groups were located throughout the campus, very organized, so polite and a delight for the residents. Our Fairfield neighbors were a pleasure to host, and what a great town we live in.
The Wellness Department planned a Hallowing Halloween Party with participants dressed in costume with plans to scare all that dare. The soup, appetizers, desserts and witching brew were served in the Applewood Bistro. Games were played in the Morrison Center before the witching hour with lots of ghoulish goodies to devour. Halcyon residents, Bea Johnson, Rosemary Laing, Marilyn Mangold and 35 others enjoyed playing the mummy wrap, passing the toilet paper with no hands, the Monster Mash and the eyeball/spoon race. Alice Edgin was the winner of the funniest costume dressed as a Jester, Wes and Carol Madsen tied for the scariest with Wes in his Indian warrior costume and Carol as a Vampire. The most original title went to Dean Slater as he became the Lone Ranger. Rob Edgin was voted the most risque costume as he dressed to portray a French Maid. Many thanks to Denise Franzen, Mary Richardson, Jarek Pozarycki, Kevin Randall and the Silver Cord students; Vanessa Moeller, Sadie Carter, Colten Horak, Mason Sinn, Nolan Eubanks, Wyatt Harbison and Matthew Leichty for donating Halloween decorations and assisting with setup for the party and serving dinner.
