The Rev. Jason Collier, representing the Ainsworth Community Church/United Church of Crawfordsville, provided the weekly chapel service to Halcyon House residents on Sunday, March 1. The sermon title was 'Are You Good.” Scripture was from Mark 10:17-31. Linda McNeil shared her special talents on the piano.
Halcyon House Wellness Department hosted See You At the Movies, on Sunday, March 1, in the Marshall Game Room. Marcella Reed, Don and Loretta Gardner, and other residents enjoyed the movie 'And So It Goes.” They are looking forward to this weekend's movie, 'The Upside.”
Trivia on Monday in the Halcyon households was 'Welcome to March.” We did a 'Wings of Spring” word search and had the snack Poppables for a midmorning snack. Trivia was shared on happenings in the month of March and how March got its name (from the god of war, who was Mars). March was historically the perfect month in the northern hemisphere for farmers to resume farming and for warriors to resume warring. March Madness is a cherished time to reacquaint oneself with the couch, especially during the early tournament days when dozens of games unfold consecutively. In other words, it's the perfect week to recover from any minor surgeries. One number-crunching firm predicted that last year American companies would lose $1.9 billion in wages paid to unproductive workers spending company time on betting pool priorities. Since this weekend the clocks are turned forward for Daylight Saving Time, some trivia was shared on that topic. Ben Franklin was an early advocate of changing time because it would use less candle wax – in other words, it saves energy.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Marjorie Kline, Clyde Pearce, and Audrey Finke.
Halcyon House residents and team members wish to extend their deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Gene Brookhart, Carla Brunk, George Davison, and Peg Gerot.
