Halcyon House News
Pastor Don Drost representing the Reformed Presbyterian Church led the weekly service with Halcyon House residents. The service included scripture from Philippians 3:12-14. Special musical selections for singing from the Book of Psalms included: 3, 23, and 121.

Pastor Don Drost representing the Reformed Presbyterian Church led the weekly service with Halcyon House residents. The service included scripture from Philippians 3:12-14. Special musical selections for singing from the Book of Psalms included: 3, 23, and 121.
Know Your Neighbor series featured Carol Wehr from Wehr Honey Farm who gave an informative and interesting presentation on bee keeping in Washington County. Another featured speaker was Halcyon?s own Jarek Pozarycki who gave a presentation about growing up in Poland which included videos of the region. Residents enjoyed a treat of Black Forest Cake which was made earlier that day during cooking class.
Karen Chabel from the Washington County Extension Office talked to the residents about all of the many services that the extension office provides.
Hills Bank representatives Becky Mougin, Elaine Moore and Alicia Horras brought in baby chicks for the residents to hold and enjoy. Hills Bank has an incubator and hatches the chicks.
The Washington FFA group brought trailers of baby animals to Halcyon House for residents to enjoy.
On Friday, residents enjoyed the Keota Brass Band that played in Timmins Dining room to round out the week.
See You at the Movies?is a popular activity every Saturday night for Halcyon House Independent Living Residents. Saturday April, 22, Bonnie Applegate, Betty Osincup and several others enjoyed the movie Ithaca a 2015 American drama film directed by Meg Ryan and written by Erik Jendresen. It is based on the 1943 novel The Human Comedy by William Saroyan.
Fritz Conrad was joined this week by his daughter and son in law. Carolyn and Dick Jacobs traveled from Florida to visit with Fritz. Carolyn informed us she had brought the beautiful weather early in the week with her from Florida. Carolyn and Fritz made a brief presentation to the WesleyLife Network Support Team who were in Washington from the home office in Johnston this week. They talked about the transition to the new households and how much different and better they are in comparison to a traditional nursing home.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Ann Chorpening, Ellen Glassel, and Alice George.
