The goal of the Resident Culture Club is to help support a positive and healthy culture at Halcyon House. Agenda items discussed at the Jan. 3, meeting: First Friend Mentoring Program, Bible Study with Mary Lynn Helscher, Newcomers Party, Exercise Classes, Centering Prayer, upcoming nutritional Iowa State University series, Spanish Wayfarers Association, See You at the Movies, possible future fire and tornado drills for Independent Living residents and Izy's Gift Shop. The 2019 '600 Hundred Club” exercise program kicked off Monday, Dec. 31. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that you exercise a total of 150 minutes per week. So we are challenging our residents to join our '600 Club” in 2019. All residents have to do is sign up, track their exercise minutes, exercise a total of 600 minutes per month. Every month a resident exercises 600 minutes per month he or she will earn a prize. At the end of the year, we will draw for a winner of a $100 Visa card and gift basket. So the more times residents hit that 600 mark, the more times they will be entered to win! The Wellness Department provides weekly tracking sheets to '600 Club” members to help keep members on target.
Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Audrey Stark and Yvonne Buck.
