This week’s Sunday Chapel Service in Epworth Chapel on the campus of Halcyon House in Washington was led by Minister Scott Johnson of Bethel Church. Together, they read scripture I John 4:13.
In Arborwood, this week’s activities included morning exercise and music. During “Coffee & Conversation,” residents listened to music from the 40’s and happily sang along. One of their favorite songs to sing along to was Doris Day’s “Que Sera Sera.” A few residents got up to dance to “Blue Suede Shoes” by Elvis Presley while others cheered them on.
During “Puzzles and Ponderings” residents completed word games and enjoyed exercising their noggins! Later in the week, residents gathered around the dining table for trivia and hot chocolate. They all enjoyed both trivia and the hot chocolate very much! It was another great week in Arborwood filled with laughter and smiling faces.
Residents enjoyed Mystery Monday in Sagewood. Staff read a short mystery story out loud and residents had to solve the mystery based on the clues. On Wednesday, we were able to play Bingo with our Wedgewood friends and brought back some good treats for prizes. On Friday, a few Wedgewood friends traveled to Sagewood to play Brain Games. It’s always very competitive!
On Monday in Wedgewood at “Artist with HeArt” residents started our Christmas paintings. Everyone chose the Christmas template they wanted to use and they decided on the background color. It may seem early to start on Christmas art, however, the residents enjoy having a project to work on throughout the holiday season. In a couple of weeks, residents will have finished their masterpieces and their beautiful art will be displayed on the wall for all friends and family to enjoy.
This week, IL and Sitler had their November Social. The theme of this social was “Ciders & Sweaters.” Residents gathered around to drink apple cider and chat with one another, all while dressed in their cozy sweaters. All the residents said it was a lovely social gathering and that they had so much fun getting to see friends they don’t always get to see. It was a nice way to say goodbye to fall and welcome the colder, winter months with warm sweaters and cider.
Lastly, we’d like to wish a happy birthday to Edith Wellington (11/21), Wanda Miller (11/22), and Linda Strudevant (11/26).
