This past Sunday in Epworth Chapel, chapel service was led by Minister Rick Zickefoose of Brighton Community Church. The sermon was titled “Victory over the Fear of Physical Sickness.” He read from scripture Isaiah 53:10. Rick was also joined by pianist, Dorothy Koehler, and by special guest Anne Zickefoose.
Arborwood residents had a fun week last week! Residents enjoyed walking outside, gentle stretch, cardio drumming and the parachute for exercise class. On Monday, residents started on a mosaic art project where each person completes their own individual art piece, but when put together, it makes a big, beautiful cohesive picture to hang. They can’t wait until they’re all finished and they can see it all together. Some residents participated in the “Be On Purpose” Fair bringing art, music, and genealogy, but all residents got to enjoy the plethora of masterpieces in Timmins!
Last Monday was a beautiful day to be outside enjoying the sun shine. Wedgewood enjoyed wheelchair rides out to the pond and feeding the Koi fish was a part of this outdoors activity. Everyone was amazed at all of the little baby Koi that made it through the winter. At “Thirsty Thursday” the question for this social gathering was “If you were stranded on a deserted island what is the one thing you would want to have with you to survive?” There were a lot of interesting answers! Answers ranged from bug spray, water, netting to keep the bugs out, and even a good book was one of the many replies.
Last week we held a little bowling competition in Rosewood. It was fun to see each person use their own techniques to try to get a strike! We will do this again as everyone enjoyed it. Special piano music by Larry Jensen, was enjoyed in the Timmins events center. It inspired some residents to sharpen up their piano skills here in the household as well. Rosewood has some real talent, for sure!
Residents and team members gathered in Timmins on Wednesday to celebrate the “Be On Purpose” Fair, where all were invited share their talents, hobbies, collections, and interests for all to enjoy. Some brought artwork, woodworking items, needlework, and genealogy books.
Some brought buttons, Barbie collections, quilts, and even pig collections! It was amazing to see everyone share what brings them purpose in life, and it was a beautiful day to celebrate how unique and special our campus truly is! All of Halcyon House was able to stroll through Timmins and learn about their neighbors while listening to others sharing their musical talents on piano, guitar and vocals, and even on accordion. To end the week, Larry Jensen performed many songs on piano for all residents to enjoy.
Lastly, we’d like to wish a happy birthday to Ruth Miller (3/27), Doris Krotz (3/27), Beverly Brodie (3/30) and Fred Metcalf (3/31)!
It was a magical week here at Halcyon House!
