Halcyon House in Washington’s weekly church service in Epworth Chapel was led by Pastor Erin Kaye from the Washington United Presbyterian Church. Her message was titled, “Adopted By God” and the scripture reading was from Galatians 3:23-4:7. Music was accompanied by Dorothy Koehler on piano.
In the Wedgewood household, the garden has been producing some delicious red tomatoes for everyone to enjoy. The cherry tomatoes have been plentiful this growing season. During the “Artist with heArt” program, residents made colorful button trees.
The Thirsty Thursday event began with a fun and games detective picture search, followed by trivia and root beer floats.
A busy week in the Sagewood household included Brain Games on Tuesday and Thursday. During Memory Games on Wednesday, residents looked at a group of 12 pictures for 90 seconds, then had to write down as many of the pictures as they could remember. Competition was strong in this game and most successfully remembered at least nine of the pictures.
On Wednesday afternoon, residents enjoyed a yummy snack of sliced tomatoes and cucumbers from the Sagewood courtyard garden. On Thursday evening, residents listened to live music played outdoors by the Washington Municipal Band.
Residents enjoyed the music and the nice weather. On Friday, staff member Mary Jo Koehler played guitar and sang in the Wedgewood, Sagewood and Arborwood households, and invited residents to sing along to familiar songs.
Celebrating birthdays in early August were Virginia Tschantz, Shirley Ryder, Lea Smothers, Mary Graber, Gladys Ferguson, and Mathena Barta.
Our sympathies go to the families and friends of Larry Canfield and Irene Baughman who passed away in late July.
