Having faith in the future

Many Years ago, a small town in Maine was the proposed site of a massive hydroelectric dam. When the project was announced, people were given two years to arrange their affairs and relocate. For the dam would cause the small community to be submerged.
During this two-year time frame an interesting thing happened. All improvements stopped. There was no painting, no repairs made, no sidewalks or roads were fixed. Long before the town was empty, it looked deserted, it looked abandoned.
You see, when there is no faith in the future, there is no power in the present. Our unbelief puts our circumstances between us and God, but faith puts God between us and our circumstances.
Throughout the Bible we often see God's will expressed in the middle of disheartening circumstances. 'I will be your help in a very present time of trouble.” 'If you say to the mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and do not doubt in your heart, it will obey you.”
Faith always sees what is invisible. It's always based on God's Word. God's Word is our evidence for faith. Faith comes to us by hearing and hearing what God says. Faith hears the inaudible. There are an average 9,000 radio signals in a metropolitan area. Without a radio, you can't hear any of them.
Faith hears what God says, and that is louder and more sure than what the circumstance tells you. Abraham and Sarah's body said children were not possible. The den of lions said Daniel was cat food. The Philistine giant told David, 'I will feed your body to the birds.” Faith hears what God says over what the circumstance declares.
Faith believes the incredible. Many say it's too incredible to believe Israel and Moses crossed through the Red Sea on dry land. God told Moses, stretch forth your rod, and a breath from God's nostrils blew open the water. It only took a sneeze! A religious professor told me the Bible wasn't true. He said they crossed at the Red Sea which was only one-and-half feet deep. I said, 'Hallelujah! That means the whole Egyptian army drowned in knee-deep water.” He didn't respond to that. God does what we cannot. 'By faith we understand that the whole universe was framed by God.” (Hebrews 11:3)
Faith accomplishes the impossible. Jesus said that if you have faith as a mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible. Though a mustard seed is small, I don't think Jesus was emphasizing size, but rather sowing. A seed does nothing until it's planted. You would never guess looking at a tomato seed that big red juicy, sweet tomatoes would come from it. God's Word may look like it won't amount to much against a big problem, but just plant it. Ask according to His Word, believe you receive it, and give God thanks. That's planting, and faith in that seed produces what seems impossible.
George Mueller said, 'The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith. The beginning of faith is the end of anxiety.”
C'mon, I dare you to believe. God watches over His Word to do it.
