Henry County Heritage Trust held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 25, in the Donald Young Library at the Henry County Museum in Mt. Pleasant. Eight board members attended: Sheila Allender, Lynn Conrad, Waunita Gibbons, Terry McNair, Pat Richenberger, David Van Allen, Ken Vandevoort and Pat White.
Minutes of the last meeting and current financial reports were presented and approved. Mulching has been done around the Van Allen House and railing for the new ramp is ready to be installed.
Several class reunion committees have made contact to arrange tours including classes from 1956, 1969 and 1974. Thursday afternoons continue to be volunteer workdays at the museum.
Alive After Five on May 1, at the Henry County Heritage Trust center was deemed a success, and the History of the Telephone program was extremely well attended. Both events received excellent publicity. Upcoming programs have been scheduled: History of Westwood on August 17, with Glenda Campbell, and Time in Antarctica in September with Kent White.
Trivia Night will be held Monday, July 22, at the Masonic Temple at 206 North Main Street in Mt. Pleasant. At 5:30 p.m., pizza and beverages will be offered for a free will donation; trivia begins at 6:30 p.m. with Jerry Keeley as emcee. Spaces to play and table sponsorships are still available. Contact a board member to participate.
Several donations were recently received: scrapbooks from the 1950s, Lions Club memorabilia from Olds, and photo albums and scrapbooks from the family of Mary Helen Curtis.
Henry County Heritage Museum is open every Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment. The Van Allen House is open by appointment only. Admission is free; Donations are welcome. For more information, contact 319-385-4983.
