If you're looking for ideas on how to eat healthy and make the most of the time you spend in the kitchen, this workshop series is for you! Join Rachel Sweeney, ISU Extension and Outreach Human Sciences Specialist in Nutrition and Wellness for a three part series scheduled for Thursdays – May 16, 23, and 30 from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Brighton Community Center, 100 E Washington Street, Brighton, Iowa.
In the first session, Cook Now, Enjoy Later you'll discover how planning can reduce stress, save money and provide your family nutritious home-cooked meals. In the second session, Cooking for One or Two you will learn strategies to make the most out of cooking for a household of one or two. The final session, Veg Out will examine the benefits of vegetables; you'll sample recipe ideas and learn how to increase fruit and veggie consumption in your diet.
The program is free and the registration deadline is May 13. Register today for the Healthy and Homemade series by contacting Nancy Adrian, 319-653-4811 or nadrian@iastate.edu. It is important to know that the sessions are not stand-alone and participants are expected to attend all sessions in the series. This program is sponsored by the Washington County Extension Office and Brighton Horizons.
