There will be a free of charge Healthy Moms, Happy Babies Training, sponsored by Lee County Health Department, on Monday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Fort Madison.
Class sizes are limited to 25 people. Lunch will not be provided.
The Healthy Moms, Happy Babies curriculum has been developed by Futures Without Violence to help all home visitation programs work toward improving and meeting federal benchmarks to address domestic violence.
Attend this training to learn techniques and obtain tools and resources that will help you address the complex and sometimes uncomfortable issue of universally screening for domestic violence.
Training goals include:
1. Local communities will build and maintain a strong collaborative partnership between home visitation programs, advocates providing services to domestic violence victims and community professionals working with families.
2. Every home visitation program will integrate this curriculum into their core training and programming to support safe and healthy families and to create futures without violence.
Register by Sept. 26 by contacting Christine Vanberkum, MIECHV Coordinator, Lee County Health Department at cvanberkum@leecountyhd.org or 319-470-5026.
