Heidi Riepe and Joel Brown to perform Sept. 20
The Washington Concert Association is pleased to announce their first of five concerts of the 2016-17 season. Joel Brown and Heidi Riepe will be performing a piano duet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Community Theater. The Washington Concert Association is pleased to announce their first of five concerts of the 2016-17 season. Joel Brown and Heidi Riepe will be performing a piano duet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Community Theater. Their concert will include Slavonic Dances by Antonín Dvo?ák, 4 Fantasies on American Folksongs by Donald Townsend, Sonatina in G Major, Op. 44, No.1 by Friedrick Kuhlau, and Fantasy in F minor, Op. 103, D. 940 by Franz Schubert.
Heidi has a Bachelor of Music in piano performance.
She became interested in piano at age 3 with her mother, a piano-organ major, being her first teacher. Heidi has taught piano lessons in California and Mt. Pleasant.
Joel Brown grew up on a dairy farm and started piano lessons at age 10. He received a B.S. in Music, then M.A. in piano, followed by a doctor of music in piano pedagogy and music literature. Joel became a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College in l972, retiring in 2012. Joel performed for the Washington Concert Association in their 2008-09 season.
Students can always attend the Washington Concert Association programs free.
One can purchase an individual ticket at the door or a 2016-17 season ticket for their five concerts. The season ticket also gets you into an additional 25 concert association programs in Keokuk, Fairfield, Ottumwa, and Centerville for free.
For further questions, contact Linda Soukup at 319-461-6402. Linda will host a meal before the concert for Joel and Heidi, along with the concert board. Linda had Joel as a music professor when she studied at Iowa Wesleyan.
