How will your high school experiences help you in coming years? High School has prepared me for college level writing as well as has helped me develop people skills as I have been exposed to an array of different personalities.
Fondest memory of high school? Spending time with friends and developing friendships and relationships. In a classroom setting, I enjoyed learning about English and the great literary texts.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why? Mrs. Kohorst had the biggest impact on me, as she challenged me to be the best writer I could be and exposed me to short stories I would have never come across on my own. I know Mrs. Kohorst is the receiver of much praise in our community, but she is deserving of every bit of it.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you? My role model is my father who introduced me to various books during childhood that helped shape my love for literature.
What is special about your high school? My high school has a very well run agricultural department that teaches kids how to take care of livestock and learn the rules of farming. I am not personally involved, but I recognize that it is an incredibly notable aspect of our community.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself? As a freshman, I would tell myself not to worry as much about the future and that everything will work out. I spent so much time and energy in my earlier adolescence filled with anxiety and dread that every action I made would have a profound impact on my future. In doing this, I neglected to enjoy as much of my youth as I could have as I spent so much time ruminating instead of making memories.
