Henry County Democrats donate to child care center
The Henry County Democrats presented a check for $500 to support the Mt. Pleasant Child Care Center at their off-year caucus on Saturday, March 6.
Henry County Democratic Party chair Jeff Fager said the Democrats made the decision in light of Iowa suffering nearly a $1 billion dollar loss to its economy because of a lack of access to affordable, quality child care.
'We believe that our working parents are struggling to maintain a sustainable life, and that confidence in the care of the children will take a heavy burden off their shoulders,” Fager said. 'It's good for families and it's good for the county's economy.”
The Henry County Democrats also expressed their appreciation for Amy McLaughlin, who has accepted the responsibility of establishing the child care center from scratch.
