The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission recently met on Wednesday, June 15.
During the meeting, a report was given on the Wayland reconnaissance survey project and transportation book sales. The evaluation of the June 12 tour will prove helpful for future tours. We thank all who opened their properties for the public to enjoy the preservation efforts of these individuals. These four sites were listed on the National Register of Historic Places last year.
Assignments were given for the July and September Henry County Historic Highlights columns published in area papers. Each museum is unique and these articles feature a specific item or display.
The ?History of Transportation, Henry County, Iowa? books are still available at Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drug Store, the county museums, the New London city office and Danville Bank, and the county auditor?s office.
The next meeting of the Henry County Historic Preservation Commission will be on Wednesday, July 20, at 2 p.m., in the conference room at the courthouse. Visitors are welcome.
