Henry County Historic Preservation Commission meets

The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission met Wednesday, July 15, at the Henry County Courthouse.
Attending were Mary Savage, Faye Heartsill, Caroline Lehman, Judy Rawson, Larry D. Roth, Johanna Crawford, Aaron Kimzey, and Joel Garretson. The Commission discussed the progress of the Schantz House & Carpentry Shop nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The documents are being reviewed and proofread.
Also discussed was the progress being made on the rural schools of Henry County book. It is estimated that about 70% of the research and documentation has been completed.
Aaron Kimzey was unanimously approved as the Commission's newest member. He is a volunteer at the Harlan-Lincoln House Museum and holds a double minor in history from Monmouth College.
The next meeting will be August 19, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the courthouse.
