The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission met Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the courthouse.
In attendance were Caroline Lehman, Judy Rawson, Larry D. Roth, Cathie Schreiner, Mary Savage, Joel Garretson, and guest Lynn Conrad. The agenda and last meeting's minutes were approved.
Mr. Conrad presented an invoice for foundation work for the Oakland Mills K-Line flagstop and provided a project update. Mr. Roth announced that the first draft of the Wayland historic residential district nomination to the National Register of Historic Places has been completed and submitted to the State.
Good progress has been made on the Commission's latest book project on the cemeteries of Henry County. The schedule for the Henry County Historic Highlights newspaper column has been set for the new year.
Last year's accomplishments were reviewed and goals for 2023 were established. These will both be highlighted in the Certified Local Government report due to the State in February. The Commission will meet with the Board of Supervisors on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m., with the regular monthly meeting immediately following.
