Highland FFA hosts first Field Day

On Friday, September 30, 2022, Highland FFA hosted their first ever field day. This day was put together by 10 members of the chapter. These members spent many hours putting together the event by researching corn diseases, pests that pose a risk to the corn plant, and much more. After doing research and putting together a chili dinner, members then posted flyers around the school and on social media invited everyone from the community to come and listen to the kids speak on their topics.

Along with the children presenting their hard work, sponsors for the field were brought in to teach about their products as well as presenting the research conducted on the Test plot portion of the field. The sponsors included NK seed representative Kami Endess, Syngenta Agronomic Service Representative, Zach Trower and AgVantage FS representative Jordan Lyon.

After the information was shared and community members got to explore the field, they were fed a chili dinner made and served by members of the chapter. The dinner included homemade chili, mac and cheese, cinnamon rolls, cookies, as well as drinks. This event was a great learning opportunity for the Highland FFA members as well as the members of our community.
