Highland FFA plants test plot

On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Highland FFA planted their 13.2 acre test plot and land lab. The land lab is located behind the Highland High School baseball and softball fields and on the west side of the track/football field. The FFA planted 14 rows of soybeans in this year’s test plot with help from Kami Endress, with NK Seeds and Zach Trower with Syngenta Crop Protection LLC. Highland FFA members were at the test plot from 2:00-4:45 pm. We would like to give a huge shout out and thank you to Brian Chulapa of Chalupa Pork LLC for helping us plant the seed using his tractor and planter.

This year the Highland FFA did multiple varieties of NK and HiSoy soybeans. The FFA plans to host their 2nd Annual Test Plot Field Day sometime in September once the beans are all grown for the community to come see how this year's test plot went. At the field day, community members can also learn what types of beans grow best under a certain pesticide program through AgVantage FS and Syngenta as well as which beans grow best for the Ainsworth/Riverside area.
