Highland NHS inducts 12 new members

Twelve Highland students were inducted into the National Honor Society on Monday, April 18. Principal Angela Hazelett opened this annual spring event with NHS Adviser Carla Trees introducing the current society members and the 12 candidates.
The traditional NHS induction ceremony was led by NHS President Morgan McAfee and performed by senior/junior members: Allison Fulton, Chris Mellinger, Keiffer Sexton, Allison Widmer, Caleb Brase, Bill Burton, Kelsey Hora, Bryce West and Drew West. The program concluded with Vice President Hunter Mast reciting the NHS pledge and the lighting of each inductee?s candle symbolizing scholarship, service, leadership and character, the four tiers (or standards) of National Honor Society. The new members are Sydney Black, Nathan Butler, Cheyanne Evans, Matthew Hoenig, Cullen Klebe, Zoe Mahler, Chloe Martin, David Ramos, Nicholas Rath, Abby Schwarz, Samuel Smith, Morgan Welsh.
Following the ceremony was a reception hosted by the Highland National Honor Society. With the help of their instructor Gwen Schaeffer, the Highland FACS students prepared delicious mini cheesecakes and dessert mints for these honored students and their guests.
