Each of the 23 teams had a red team and a blue team for each robot and did six robot rounds of competition. The Highland Robotics ranked sixth place for the qualifying matches and moved on to the semifinals with the first ranked team as their alliance partner.
Highland Robotics participated in three semifinal matches. The first match they lost by one point 325 to 324. The second match they won 191 to 90 and the third match they won 361 to 350, which qualifies them to go to the state competition.
Highland Robotics also received third runner-up for the Inspire Award. The Inspire Award is given to teams who demonstrate on outreach they do with their robot project, the technical journey and how the team works together.
The next competition for the team will be the state competition on March 6 and 7 at the Marriott Hotel in Coralville.
