Aug. 3, 2023 11:14 am
Nearly 45,000 ears of sweet corn will be given out to community members at Hills Bank’s annual Customer Appreciation Day celebration on Aug. 4. Employees bagged bundles of corn in reusable canvas bags to hand to anyone that stopped by their offices throughout the Corridor, including in Washington and Kalona.
“Our customers are truly our most valuable asset, and this tradition is a way for us to show how them how much we appreciate their support,” said Lisa Shileny, President and Chief Operating Officer of Hills Bank. “We’ve given out Iowa-grown sweet corn for over a decade thanks to a partnership with local farmers.”
The bank sources its corn from local growers, including Kroul Farms in Mt. Vernon, Stout’s Market in Ainsworth, Gary Knight in Whittier, and Rich Buser in Conesville, to bring thousands of ears to each of their branch locations.
Hills Bank and Trust Company, headquartered in Hills, Iowa, was founded in 1904 and is wholly owned by Hills Bancorporation. Hills Bank serves customers from 18 branch offices spanning across three eastern Iowa counties, has $4 billion in assets and 525 employees.
