Irene Hoaglin had a wonderful 105th birthday party on Feb. 8, at Legacy Pointe in Iowa City.

Her immediate family (Steve and Joanna Reno, Shannon and Eric Hanson, Erik, Lisa and Ryan Reno) held a small party in her room before an open house at Legacy. Irene opened a package with 105 presents inside with the help of her great-granddaughter Ryan Reno. She also thoroughly enjoyed the birthday decorations of turquoise balloons and pictures of Irene including her childhood and teaching days. Guests received a bookmark and a special birthday edition of some of Irene's favorite newspaper games: crypto-quotes, word searches and jumbles.

Irene would like to thank all the family members and friends who sent cards or attended her birthday party at Legacy. She loved reading all the memories in the cards and visiting with those who came. Thank you for making this special birthday so memorable

The Hillsboro Public Library has New Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays 4 to 6 p.m. and Thursdays 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
