Hinterland Dairy to celebrate dairy month with educational tours and specials

Donnellson- Hinterland Dairy will be celebrating June Dairy Month with a very special “Dairy Day” on the farm Saturday, June 21.

June has been recognized as “National Dairy Month” since 1937 and is a month long celebration of dairy farms and dairy products. To give guests an up close look at how dairy products are brought to consumers Hinterland Dairy will be offering complimentary farm tours at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. The tours, approximately 45 minutes in length, will take guests through a working dairy farm; from the baby calves to the milking parlor and finally to the finished product of cheese and ice cream.

“Everything that goes into making our cheese happens right here on the farm; from raising the cows and crops to milking the cows and producing the cheese.” said Ralph Krogmeier, co-owner of Hinterland Dairy. “June is a beautiful time to visit the farm, celebrate agriculture, and enjoy the beauty Southeast Iowa has to offer.”

The Hinterland Dairy on-farm store will be offering hand-dipped ice cream cones and specials on their farmstead cheese to help celebrate.
