Scott and Terri Reneker and their children, Sabrina and Lilly, middle, receive the Historic Preservation Award from Fairfield Beautification Commission members Mary Gomes and Nancy Morrissey, to the left, and Karin Hauring, right. The Renekers received the award for restoring parts of their Victorian home at 304 E. Broadway Ave., with an emphasis on the restoration of the outside porches. The Renekers also restored much of the inside of the home, including the plumbing, plastering and windows.
The Victorian home was built in 1886 by Dr. Joseph Blackburn Monfort. In 1891, the dining room and back bedroom were added and the roof line was raised. After the Monfort family moved in 1916, three more families owned the house before the Renekers purchased it in 1990.
The Fairfield Beautification Commission and National Trust for Historic Preservation have teamed up to present the Historical Preservation Award to six Fairfield property owners. The Reneker residence is the third property to be honored with the award, which is temporarily replacing the commission?s Rose Award through July.
