The Washington County Historical Society executive board met at 9 a.m., April 23, at Conger House in Washington. Eight members attended, and Ferd Marie was presiding officer.

The Washington County Historical Society executive board met at 9 a.m., April 23, at Conger House in Washington. Eight members attended, and Ferd Marie was presiding officer.
The main order of business was the annual meeting to be held April 27 in the Exhibit Building at Marr Park. New members of the executive board need to be elected. Grants will be written for archival materials and insulation for Conger House. Conger House, Walnut School and Red Brick School will be open at some time during the City Classic event in May. Conger House will be open on the third Sunday of each month from June through October. Volunteers are needed to act as guides.
Mike Kramme announced a cemetery tour for May 17 in Elm Grove Cemetery, sponsored by the city?s Preservation Committee.
A paleontologist from the state geological society has evaluated the rock collection. The rocks with fossils are the most valuable.
The next meeting will be at 9 a.m., May 28, in Conger House.
