Hollander turning 90; celebration set in April
Max Hollander of Fairfield will be turning 90 years old Feb. 10.
His family will host a 90th birthday celebration from 1:30-4 p.m. April 15 at Best Western Fairfield Inn.
Mr. Hollander was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. He married Maizie Berg in 1943 and served with the 843rd Engineer Aviation Army Battalion in Europe from 1943 to 1946.

Max Hollander of Fairfield will be turning 90 years old Feb. 10.

Mr. Hollander was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. He married Maizie Berg in 1943 and served with the 843rd Engineer Aviation Army Battalion in Europe from 1943 to 1946.
The Hollanders have farmed and operated an insurance business in the Fairfield community for many years, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2003 before Mrs. Hollander passed away in 2005.
They have two adult daughters, Karen Bush and husband Mike in Ankeny and Mary Ann Young and husband Bill of Des Moines; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
