The Iowa High School Athletic Association released it?s football schedules for the 2018 and 2019 seasons last week, meaning all four Henry County teams got to see their upcoming matchups for the first time.
Mt. Pleasant will play three of their first four games at home in 2018. The Panthers will begin the year on Aug. 24 against Clear Creek-Amana. They?ll play at Pella the next week and then host Central Lee and Ottumwa to wrap up non-district play by mid-September.
The Panthers will open the district schedule up on Sept. 21 at Fairfield. Mt. Pleasant will host Keokuk the next week, then play at Solon and Ft. Madison on back-to-back weeks before hosting Washington in their season finale on Oct. 19.
New London will open the year up at home playing Hartwick-Ladora-Victor (H-L-V) on Aug. 24. The Tigers will play at Moravia the next week for their only non-conference game.
The Tigers will host both of the other Henry County eight-man foes in 2018. New London hosts WACO on Sept. 7, and Winfield-Mt. Union will come to town on Sept. 28.
WACO will open the season a week before Mt. Pleasant and New London. The Warriors will head to Janesville on Aug. 17, to begin the year with their only non-conference game.
WACO will play at Iowa Valley on Aug. 24 before opening the home schedule against English Valleys on Aug. 31. WACO will renew their rivalry with Winfield-Mt. Union at home on Oct. 5. They?ll have a bye before their last game, on Oct. 19.
W-MU will begin the year at Springville on Oct. 17, opening the same day as WACO. The Wolves will host English Valleys on Oct. 24 for their first home game.
W-MU will be the only Henry County team to take on both of the others on the road. They?ll also play them in back-to-back weeks, traveling to New London on Sept. 28 and Waco on Oct. 5.
Because their two last road games are against Henry County foes, W-MU will not leave the county for a game over the entire second half of the season. Six of their nine contests overall will take place in Henry County. W-MU will also get their bye on the final week of the season.
All four schedules for the Henry County teams can be found below.
