IHCC arts scholarship audition day set

OTTUMWA ? Performing arts scholarship auditions will be Saturday in the Arts and Sciences Center on the Ottumwa campus of Indian Hills Community College. High school seniors interested in participating in theatre, jazz band or vocal music at IHCC are encouraged to participate. Students who are unable to audition Saturday can schedule an appointment for a different time throughout February.

Performing arts scholarships, ranging up to $2,000, will be awarded to qualified new IHCC students. Because students from all majors participate in IHCC?s musical groups and productions, students don?t have to be music or theatre majors. Therefore, performing arts majors and non-majors alike can audition/interview for a scholarship.

Scholarship winners will be required to participate in at least one IHCC performing arts event during the 2014-15 academic year. This will include acting or serving in a technical role in one of the theatrical productions, playing in the IHCC Jazz Band or singing with the IHCC Concert Choir or Chamber Singers. Some scholarships may be awarded to students planning to participate in more than one area of the performing arts.

IHCC performing arts faculty and college admissions personnel will be on hand during the scholarship competition. Campus tours will be available, and parents are encouraged to attend with their student.
