Cedar Rapids and Mount Pleasant — Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is now a fully-fiber-powered community following the completion of ImOn’s 100% fiber internet network.
The completed network delivers fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-business internet service to more than 3,500 addresses in town, providing ultrareliable service and speeds up to 1 Gbps for homes and 10 Gbps for businesses.
ImOn expanded its growing fiber network to Southeast Iowa early last year, working closely with the Mount Pleasant community throughout the project. Construction began in Mount Pleasant in May 2025, and the first customer was connected in July. Construction wrapped up in late December, with a brief pause in September for the annual Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.
Though construction is complete, future ‘pocket builds’— smaller construction projects that deliver service to new developments — are possible.
“We’re never truly ‘done’ building our fiber network, even if our main build in town is complete,” said ImOn President and CEO Patrice Carroll. “Communities grow and change, and our network grows and changes along with it. We look forward to helping the residents and business owners of Mount Pleasant stay connected for years to come.”
ImOn Communications also provides fiber internet services to Fort Madison, Keokuk, Burlington, West Burlington, and Danville. Aside from Southeast Iowa, ImOn Communications’ network also serves the Cedar Rapids metro, Iowa City metro, Dubuque metro, Sioux City metro (Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota), Marshalltown, and the Clinton metro.
