Anne Buckwalter, daughter of Tom and Paula Buckwalter, has been chosen clarinet section leader of the SE Iowa Bandmasters' Association District High School Honor Band. The band will rehearse all day and perform a concert at 6 p.m. Sat., Jan. 24 in West High School Auditorium in Iowa City. The public is invited to attend.
Buckwalter was selected at competitive auditions in Fairfield on Saturday, Jan. 10. All students who auditioned needed to be prepared to play all major scales, chromatic scale, two required etudes, and a solo of their choice. All 500-plus students who auditioned hold top chairs in their own bands, and only 100 of them were chosen for SEIBA. Those earning a spot are among the top 5 percent of band students in the SE sixth of the state, and are second only to Iowa All State Band participants.
Anne is a senior at Iowa Mennonite High School and a band student of Josh Tyson. Her private instructor is Becky Curtis.
