OTTUMWA ? Tickets are available for the sixth annual eight-course gourmet dinner to benefit students in Indian Hills Community College?s culinary arts program.
The sixth annual dinner event will be held in the Indian Hills Dining Room on Jan. 27.
The dinner will feature a special guest, chef Julian Arranz of the award-winning father and son pastry team of Raul and Julian Arranz from Valladolid, Spain. Arranz will be guest instructing at Indian Hills from mid-January to mid-February. He will be preparing one of his dessert creations to cap off the evening.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a social time featuring wine and an assortment of Spanish tapas. Guests will then enjoy a Spanish-influenced, fine-dining experience. The multi-course meal will include house mozzarella with bruschetta and arugula, crunchy goat cheese and seared melon salad, beer-battered Carribean stuffed peppers, lobster thermidor, sweet potato gnocchi with seared duck and crispy sage, filet mignon with a Spanish potato cake, bleu cheese-rolled grapes with powdered pistachios and Julian?s surprise dessert. An artisanal bread assortment also will be featured during the evening.
?We are really excited about this year?s event because the first seven courses will be prepared by our students who participated in last summer?s international culinary program in Spain. Then Julian?s dessert promises to be delightful,? said Gordon Rader, director of the Indian Hills culinary arts program.
Tickets are $75 per person and available by emailing Rader at grader@indianhills.edu. Tables of 10 are available.
Several outstanding Indian Hills culinary students will be awarded scholarships during the evening event.
