Iowa City VA to open clinic in Ottumwa
N/A
Nov. 25, 2020 12:00 am
The Iowa City VA Health Care System is opening a new outpatient clinic in Ottumwa to replace the current clinic located at 1009 E. Pennsylvania Ave. in Ottumwa.
The new clinic will be about 7,000 square feet bigger than the current clinic and will include expanded services such as improved examination and treatment space, dedicated women's health exam rooms, and increased accommodation for Primary Care, Mental Health, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and more.
The increased space is needed in the Ottumwa area as approximately 4,000 veterans are seen in the current clinic, and the clinic is near capacity. The new Ottumwa clinic will allow for another 2,000 veterans to have access to quality health care in the area with room to expand staff to meet patient needs.
According to Judith Johnson-Mekota, Director of the Iowa City VA Health Care System, 'This new Community Based Outpatient Clinic is an example of the dedication of the team in the Ottumwa area and in Iowa City to deliver the highest quality care in a timely fashion to our Veteran patients, who have earned that service through their commitment and sacrifice.”
Other new services that will be provided at the new Ottumwa location include mobile Audiology, Podiatry, and Chiropractor and Acupuncture care.
The address for the new clinic is 1020 Quincy Ave. Ottumwa 52501. Expected open date will be Dec. 7, and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held virtually on Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. You can watch that ceremony live on the Iowa City VA Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/VAIowaCity.
