Iowa J members enjoy time at Wayland Community Center
May. 26, 2022 2:09 pm
Iowa J members enjoyed a light supper with camper Emma and members of her family on Tuesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. at the Wayland Community Center. Following the meal, Camp Chair Joni Huisenga gave details of the camping experience for the family members and entertained questions. Personal gifts were then presented to Emma. Camp is June 5-10. Members are to write notes to Emma to be sent with the bus driver and delivered to camp so that Emma will receive mail every day.
Following the departure of the guests, President Georgia Fort called the meeting to order. Recording Secretary Tracy Hill took roll and read minutes of the April 26, 2022 meeting. Minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Lori Messer gave her report, accepted and filed for audit. Details were reported of recent fund raising events. Gift cards have been purchased and Joni will deliver to former campers who were high school graduates this year.
Another tip night in Mt. Pleasant will be set for some time in July. Members are asked to sign up at the June meeting to help work this fund raising event. Proceeds go toward providing all necessary items for camper/s and money to the National Project Fund for the expense of providing the camps for each camper the chapter sends per year.
President Georgia reminded members that Iowa J is to review and revise By-Laws and Standing Rules this year.
The next meeting will be June 28 and Emma and her family will be present for her to share stories about her time at camp.
