Iowa Wesleyan does Service Learning Day
Mar. 14, 2022 2:52 pm
On March 8, 12 students and two staff members from Iowa Wesleyan University traveled to Washington, Iowa, for a Service Learning Day. They spent the morning at PAWS & More Animal Shelter, where they helped with deep cleaning, played with many of the cats and kittens, and walked all of the dogs.
The students spent their lunch time eating at one of the many places on the square in uptown Washington and then had time to explore the opportunities and businesses available in the area. To finish the day, they visited Washington County Ambulance, where they learned about the ambulance service, what EMS (emergency medical services) is, and the education required to work there.
They were also taken on a tour of the ambulance base, got to see and go inside an ambulance, and learned about the equipment used in EMS. It was a full day of service and learning.
Those in attendance were: A.J. Albert of Winfield, Vladislava Plotnikova of Mt. Pleasant, Sahia Diori Hamidou of Mt. Pleasant, Lucas Viteri of Mt. Pleasant and Yuho Kimura of Mt. Pleasant.
