Iowa Wesleyan hosted MacMurray College in Thursday night?s SLIAC conference volleyball action.
The Tigers were looking to bounce back from two non-conference losses last Friday.
IWU came ready to play and took down the Highlanders in three straight sets to improve to 5-5 in conference play this year.
The Tigers came out focused in the first set of play against MacMurray.
They played a fairly clean set and only committed four attack errors.
IWU forced the Highlanders into ten attack errors to help them to a 25-15 win in set one. Iowa Wesleyan continued to play well in the second set of the night.
They put down 11 kills compared to MacMurray?s six in the set. IWU was also efficient with their attack game, committing only four errors once again while the Highlanders finished with eight in the set.
The third set of the night was a little tougher for the Tigers. MacMurray was not ready to be done for the night, and they battled in the final set.
Both teams finished with five attack errors, but Iowa Wesleyan held the advantage in kills. The Tigers recorded 16 kills in the set and held MacMurray to ten kills.
Cassandra Schwamborn led the Tigers with a double-double on the night. She recorded 11 kills and 13 digs in the win.
Maddison Hiland finished close behind her with eight kills on the night.
Cierra Howard ended the evening with 13 digs to tie for a team high. Maggie Earney recorded a team high 24 assists for Iowa Wesleyan.
The Tigers will return to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 8. They will travel to Webster University to take on Principia at 12 p.m., and Webster at noon.
Iowa Wesleyan is now 6-11 overall and 5-5 in SLIAC play this year.
