IowaWINS to hold annual meeting Oct. 21

IowaWINs will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, October 21. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m., in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church (902 S Walnut St, Mount Pleasant). A lunch will be provided following the meeting.

Attendees will hear about IowaWINs’s financial status as well as the many activities conducted this year. In addition, there will be two important presentations. We will hear about the new initiative to support Ukrainian families coming to America under “humanitarian parole.” This is a special status that allows people seeking safety from a temporary crisis to live in the United States. Mount Pleasant now has two Ukrainian families, one of which just arrived on the 13th.

We will also hear from Sonia Reyes (of The Reyes Institute), who spoke with members of the immigrant community in order to develop a plan of action for IowaWINs as we move into the coming years. This plan of action will guide our energy and resources to best support our new neighbors.

The lunch will be prepared by Betty Garcia, a local caterer, and offered by IowaWINs to all who come to the meeting. The public is welcome to join the meeting and learn more about IowaWINs.
