Irene Walsh, 86, West Des Moines, formerly Woodward and Danville, died Monday, November 19, 2018. She was born October 17, 1932 in Wilke, Iowa to Morris Mandival and Margaret Irene Doyle Wood. In 1954 she married Robert Gene Walsh; he died in 1985.

She graduated from Danville High School as Valedictorian and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi. She began her career at Thriftway Food Store in Des Moines, worked at Woodward State Hospital School and retired from IAAP. She loved time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include son, Robert Walsh, Perry; daughters, Suzanne Walsh, Minburn, Cynthia Hernandez, Chandler, AZ, Kristen Rolston, Perry, and Nancy Holtkamp, West Point; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Wagler and Shirley Langham; brother, Roger Wood; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Mickey Wood and sisters, Pamela Noe' and Patricia Hillgartner.

The family will receive friends Monday from 9 - 10:00 at Elliott Chapel. Rosary at 10:00 followed by service with Father Paul Connolly. Burial will be at Jaggar Cemetery. A memorial has been established for American Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be left at www.elliottfuneralchapelcom.
