ISU Extension hosting Pro-Ag Outlook and Management Seminar

IOWA CITY - Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Johnson County is hosting a Pro-Ag Outlook and Management Seminar on Dec. 5. The program is designed to provide agribusiness leaders with a concise evaluation of current market conditions, expected trends in crop and livestock income potential and management implications. Participants also will receive an overview of the agricultural industry and learn how changes may affect Iowa producers.
Speakers will include ISU Extension and Outreach state specialists Chad Hart, associate professor in economics and extension grain markets specialist; Wendong Zhang, assistant professor and extension economist; and Lee Schulz, associate professor and livestock economist. ISU Extension and Outreach field specialists also will be present at the meetings.
This program takes a deep look into the outlook for agriculture in 2019 and provides an opportunity to discuss the current situation with university experts on the Iowa economy.
Dr. Wendong Zhang, extension economist and a Chinese native from Iowa State University, leads the Iowa Land Value Survey, the Iowa Farmland Ownership and Tenure Survey, and co-founded the new ISU China AG Center. He will discuss the recent developments of U.S.-China trade disruptions and the implications for ag exports, farm income and land values. He also will briefly discuss results from the new 2017 Iowa Farmland Ownership and Tenure Survey.
Dr. Chad Hart, Extension Crop Economist will discuss the market outlook for corn and soybeans. Dr. Lee Schulz, Extension Livestock Economist will discuss the market outlook for cattle, swine, dairy, and poultry.
There is a fee for this event and it is payable at the door. Please call the Johnson County office to preregister (319-337-2145).
