The members of the Jackson Jets toured Hilltop Dairy in Wayland on Sunday, Nov. 10. Members included Emma and Tyler Alderton, Roy Carter, Leah Marek and Olivia Pacha.
Parents Brad and Megan Alderton and leaders Bob Spenner and Julie Stout took the group to visit and learn how the dairy operation works. Madi Skubal from Hilltop Dairy guided the day. She started off by explaining the daily procedures and then took the club around to the different barns and stations. The club was told what was involved in the operation from 3 a.m. throughout the day. Seven days a week the dairy cows are worked with. Madi took the club into a milking station and they got to see the cows in the automated milking room. After the tour, the club was treated to ice cream and treats.
The meeting was held during a small break and all members agreed to make five Christmas cards each for the McCreedy home bingo and cookie decorating day on December 8, 2019.
The members also discussed the 4-H Awards night. Members Roy Carter, Wyatt Stout and Leah Marek received special awards at the banquet. Congratulations to all members who received record book and special project awards.
