James Raymond Wolbers, 85, of Danville, died on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at the Danville Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, in New London. Rev. David Mixon will officiate. Military rites will be presented by the Henry County Honor Guard. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at the chapel, followed by burial in Aspen Grove ...

James Raymond Wolbers, 85, of Danville, died on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at the Danville Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, in New London. Rev. David Mixon will officiate. Military rites will be presented by the Henry County Honor Guard. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served at the chapel, followed by burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery, in Burlington, at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin after noon on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the chapel, with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established to Long Creek United Methodist Church, in rural Danville.
Wolbers was born on Aug. 13, 1931, in Burlington, the son of Raymond Fredrick and Elsie Katherine Gabriel Wolbers. He was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School. On June 12, 1955, he married Jeanne Ruth Sipes, in Burlington.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company, Burlington Community Schools, and retired from UPS.
He enjoyed tinkering, mechanics, carpentry and making doll houses.
He was a member of the Long Creek United Methodist Church.
Wolbers is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Danville; one son, Brett (Jan) Wolbers, of Danville; one daughter, Joanne (Bob) Spenner, of Washington; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darrell; and one sister, Barbara, in infancy.
